Przymierska Morgan’s new performance work, is a collage of fifty moments of border crossings from film & TV, re-enacted & reconfigured across fifty minutes. Watch trailer Side-stepping any claims of ‘objective’ truth, Crossing the Line presents a kaleidoscopic & de-centred reflection of the way we literally see - through film & TV from a number of different countries - border crossings and the people that make them, or try to. Specific moments of narrative are cut from their moorings and re-shaped into a semi-abstract performance of a set of social, political and human relationships, crystallised at ‘the border’. Through translating moving image to live performance, the cropping and sequencing of scenes to create new arcs & patterns, a critical deployment of music and the inhabiting of the multiple roles by a diverse cast, a ‘simple’ re-presentation of commercial discourse on the subject of the border becomes at the same time a vehicle for the expression of a small collaborative group. With pop songs, shoot-outs, balloons, seas, interplanetary travel and an elephant in the room, the process has generated enormous variety, from moments of quiet & reflection to ones of violence & confrontation, humour and romance. Performed by an amazingly diverse ensemble with backgrounds in stage, film, tv, mime & clowning and featuring lounge club legend Count Indigo, Crossing the Line has fun with its seriousness. Przymierska Morgan is a London- based performance duo. Margot Przymierska (Poland) & Nicholas Morgan (UK) have backgrounds in performance, theatre & translation, filmmaking & curation.
