About the event
Monument is an interactive one-woman show weaving between two worlds: post-WWII Czechoslovakia, where a failed artist-turned-apparatchik oversees construction of the world's largest Stalin monument, trading his integrity - and his humanity - for career advancement in a society where conformity is survival; and contemporary London, where Polish builder Bogdan constructs luxury flats while navigating exploitation, isolation, and the hollow promise of success in a Europe already at war on its eastern border.

Both men are products of systems that reward a particular kind of masculinity: compliant, ambitious, emotionally shut down, and oriented entirely around individual advancement. The show interrogates how toxic masculinity and political apathy are not personality flaws but features of the systems these men inhabit; how the ideology of "just keep your head down and build" produces people who construct monuments to power…
