MONUMENT is a one-woman comedy drag show with audience participation, rap and pickled gherkins. Steeped in ‘ost-algia’ MONUMENT is a relatable story for the Western world freed from ideology. Right? Set at mysterious construction sites in Czechoslovakia and the UK, MONUMENT asks about the real cost and purpose of hard-work.


Two stories positioned side by side: 

1950s, Czechoslovakia. A Government Apparatchik oversees the construction of the largest monument to Joseph Stalin, symbolising everlasting unity between the Soviet nations. Repressed by the Communist ideology, Apparatchik is determined to work his way to the top, where a possibility of personal freedom awaits. 


2025, the UK. Bogdan, a Polish builder, aspiring rapper and an overall relatable everyman. He works hard, earns money and daydreams about a luxurious future. Caught in a work-sleep routine, Bogdan fills his loneliness with dating apps and doom scrolling on social media, interrupted by a…
