The People Speak

I am a co-director of The People Speak - an interdisciplinary art collective founded by Mikey Weinkove. We are based in East London and work around the UK and Europe in a myriad of contexts: from arts, culture and educational institutions, festivals, youth and community hubs, science and technology companies, local authorities and many more.

Our creative practice is socially engaged and aims to increase participation in contemporary culture and society one chat at a time. We use performance art, multi-media and technology to stimulate discussion, ideas, and actions in interactive and fun environments. Our formats include The Slice Is Right - a pizza making under various political conditions, Segue - instant film-making factory, Who Wants To Be…? - direct democracy game show, One Night Grandstand - stadium in a suitcase and the flagship pop-up talk show Talkaoke.

At The People Speak I lead on the production and delivery of projects locally and abroad. As one of the artists and facilitators in our collective I host Talkaoke, devise and deliver creative workshops and develop participant-led initiatives. I also lead on fundraising and reporting, while balancing it out with driving the van, which I enjoy very much!
